Our Heavenly Father has given us, in Christ Jesus, the most wonderful gift of HOPE. Of course, we have many blessings in Christ, but today I am thankful for the hope that comes from knowing Him. In these turbulent last days, we can be confident, free from fear and anxiety over what is going to happen, and joyful in ALL things...because of our hope in Christ. Tomorrow is election day here in the U.S., and if you've been unable to get away from the barage of disgusting political campaign ads, like I have here in Chicagoland (home of VERY dirty politics and candidates who most often seem destined for jail rather than public office), the future looks bleak.
"When the righteous increase, the people rejoice, But when a wicked man rules, people groan." (Proverbs 29:2)
And yet, even though I think we're heading into a BIG storm, I don't fear it so much...because my citizenship is not here. My faith isn't in government, nor any nation...it's in Christ. And my hope for the future comes only from Him.
"Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior,
and my hope is in you all day long." (Psalm 25:5 NIV)
and my hope is in you all day long." (Psalm 25:5 NIV)
"You were tired out by the length of your road,Yet you did not say, ' It is hopeless.'
You found renewed strength,Therefore you did not faint." (Isaiah 57:10)
You found renewed strength,Therefore you did not faint." (Isaiah 57:10)
"'For I know the plans that I have for you,' declares the LORD,
'plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope'." (Jeremiah 29:11)
'plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope'." (Jeremiah 29:11)
"But since we are of the day, let us be sober, having put on the breastplate of faith and love,
and as a helmet, the hope of salvation." (I Thess. 5:8)
and as a helmet, the hope of salvation." (I Thess. 5:8)
"This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, a hope both sure and steadfast..." (Hebrews 6:19)

LoriLady, Thank you for your providential words today. Joseph has been poring over the internet, and searching out candidates, in our family "election research" evening Saturday night. YES--our citizenship is in heaven. And as Ephesians 1:3 says:
Blessed be the Tod and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us WITH EVERY SPIRITUAL BLESSING in the heavenlies.
Looking forward to living with you in eternity,
Christine
How wonderful to have this Hope in us!
My citizenship is not here, and not where I was born...but it is where He Dwells :)
What comforting words when tomorrow everything will be decided yet again.
I don't have television, so we skipped the ads, but the mail...to fill a large garbage can.

Beautiful post. All of our posts seem to link so far throughout our time of posting and I think it shows that God's people are lining up in the faith and thankfulness that He has for us.
May you be richly blessed,
Cass
Whoohoo Girl, I am glad our citizenship is not here.
Your blog is BEAUTIFUL! I love the colors! It reminds me of my kitchen. :-)
Praise God that we are not of this world and for the Hope of eternal life with Christ!!
Blessings,
Theresa
